Fans of Star Wars: The Bad Batch are still reeling from the cruel twists and turns of the season two finale “Plan 99”, which saw the tragic sacrifice of a Bad Batcher, the capture of Omega, and… a surprise sister? What a bombshell reveal to end the season on.
And the story isn’t over just yet. During the Bad Batch panel at Star Wars Celebration Europe, executive producer and head writer Jennifer Corbett confirmed that the Batch will be returning for a third and final season sometime next year. I had the privilege of seeing some exclusive footage from the upcoming season and all I can say is that fans of the show are in for a real treat… and potentially more heartache.
We saw clone commandos, heard Palpatine reiterate the importance of the Mount Tantiss facility to the Empire’s cloning efforts, caught brief glimpses of elite mercenary Fennec Shand and what may have been Commander Wolffe, saw Omega and Crosshair wearing drab uniforms under Imperial custody, and got a fun action sequence featuring a large tentacled creature, maybe a sarlacc or possibly even a rathtar.
Omega didn’t look noticeably older than she did at the end of season two but she wore her hair in a slightly different style (combed over to the right?), donned a white and grey uniform, and was having samples taken from her arm. They only played the footage once at the screening hall I was in, so I apologise if I missed anything. The footage was barely a minute long – if that – and a lot of images flashed by before I could process what I was looking at.
The final season of The Bad Batch will be landing on Disney+ in 2024. What are your hopes and expectations for the Batch’s final mission? Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments section below!
