The first season of The Bad Batch drew to its emotional conclusion on August 13 and while we know that the show will return for a second season sometime in 2022, the Batch’s future is still shrouded in mystery. Luckily for us, head writer Jennifer Corbett and supervising director Brad Rau offered some very vague but tantalising hints at what fans can expect to see in season two during a recent edition of This Week! in Star Wars.

Corbett teased that fans will get to see the ramifications of the Empire’s destruction of Tipoca City but Rau revealed an even more enticing detail: that there would be a time jump between the two seasons. “I’m not gonna say how much, but a little time has passed before we get to the beginning of season two, and how that affects the whole season is gonna be really fascinating.”

Time jumps are nothing new to the Star Wars animated series. There is a noticeable time jump halfway through season three of The Clone Wars and another between seasons two and three of Star Wars Rebels. Both Ahsoka Tano and Ezra Bridger visibly matured – and got new looks – during these jumps, and fans are already curious to know how much of a growth spurt Omega will go through in the interim. There’s a good chance that the Batch may soon find themselves dealing with a teenage Omega and navigating the various challenges of puberty, all while trying to survive and carve a new path for themselves in an increasingly hostile and dangerous galaxy.

Exciting times lie ahead for our clone family and I, for one, can’t wait to see them back on our screens next year.
